Henry Morris’s Evidence for a Worldwide Flood
This list of observational evidence
cannot accommodate a local deluge
Having just completed for a second time the weighty commentary on Genesis by Henry Morris The Genesis Record (1976-1984), I thought an excerpt from the appendices deserves wider attention.
Considered the father of modern creationism, Dr Henry M. Morris, Jr was both a staunch believer in the historicity of the Bible and a prominent scientist and professor. Author of many books, and co-founder of the Institute for Creation Research (ICR), his specialty in hydraulics and hydrodynamics gave him unparalleled credibility for assessing the physical impact of a global flood as described in Genesis 6-9.
In Appendix 4, having listed 50 evidences within Genesis for the universality of the Flood, and 14 additional evidences from other Biblical writers (including Job, Isaiah, Jesus and Peter), Morris listed 36 additional non-Biblical evidences (pp 685-686). Secular scientists or readers who do not accept Biblical authority nevertheless must not ignore these observational categories of evidence.

This list is not necessarily exhaustive. Creation geologists have studied many of these in detail and published papers about them (and additional evidences) in peer-reviewed creation journals, which readers are invited to search for more detail: the Creation Research Society Quarterly, the Journal of Creation, the Answers Research Journal, and the papers of the International Conference on Creation (ICC). Dr Walter Brown has also published independently his integration of causes and effects of the Flood.
If even a fraction of these evidences are irrefutable, then those who doubt a historical global Flood as described in Genesis must seriously rethink their view of geology and their worldview about the origin of the earth and the universe.
