Match the organism with the application that it is inspiring. Click links at left for the answers.

Flatworms Antibacterial surface
Butterfly wings Energy-free temperature regulator
Stegosaurus Natural disaster detection
Springtail Ice adhesive
Shark Embryo surgery
HDL Transport System Cancer imaging
Bone marrow Jumping robot
Ants Swimming robot
Gecko Traffic control systems
Mosquitos RNA drug delivery

What has Darwinism done for you lately? Probably not much. Intelligent design thinking, as seen in the burgeoning field of Biomimetics is accomplishing two goals for good science: (1) Understanding of how things work, and (2) Engineering advances that help people. Since we started reporting on Biomimetics 23 years ago, it has not slowed down at all.

We didn’t even get to the clam that is inspiring better fiber optics, the bird that is inspiring robots that can leap into the air, the manta ray that is inspiring faster swimming devices, the lotus leaf that is inspiring cancer treatments, the brain that is inspiring nano-electronics, the praying mantis that is improving self-driving cars,….
