More Body Videos Coming
Not bawdy, but
wholesome: new series
reveals secrets inside of us
The first in a series of “Secrets of the Human Body” is out, produced by the Discovery Institute. Featuring a physician (Dr Howard Glicksman) and an engineer (Dr Steve Laufmann), the series brings to life wonders of the body described in detail in their 2022 book, Your Designed Body. A condensed version, Your Amazing Body, was published this year. You can see the trailer for the series at Discovery’s news site, Science and Culture Today, with glimpses of athletes performing some of the amazing feats their bodies are capable of.
The first video, “Engineered for Oxygen,” was released this month on the Discovery Science YouTube Channel. It describes an engineering problem the body must solve: getting oxygen to every cell. But this problem can only be solved if six other complex systems are functioning. And each one of those is made of cells! There are only two possible causes to explain this chicken-and-egg problem.
Details of how the body solves the oxygen need are explained in the 15-minute video. A running theme in the books and videos will be how there are a billion ways to die, but only one to be alive: if and only if the collection of all vital systems are functioning. Judging from the quality of the first video, we expect this series will be great for watching and sharing.
Illustra Media’s Body Works
To appreciate the design of the human body more, enjoy these short videos (4-10 min) that Illustra Media has been producing for years in its “Awesome Wonders” series. Here’s a list from TheJohn1010Project.com website about the human body and brain:
Body Books to Consider
There are several good books on the human body that don’t attribute these wonders to blind evolution. Here are a few we have found helpful. The last two, though somewhat dated, are still worth reading, loaded with amazing facts.
- Your Designed Body, by Glicksman and Laufmann (2022)
- Your Amazing Body, by Glicksman and Lauffman (2025)
- The Amazing Body Human, by Mark P. Cosgrove (1987)
- The Wonder of Man, by Werner Gitt (1999)
Now go do something good for your body and with your body.

Comments
I am confident the vids will be great. I read the book those two professionals coauthored, “Your Designed Body” and it was so good I bought 10 copies to hand out to several of my medical providers as ‘office copies’.
