Illustra Media Produces New Short Videos

Illustra in Shorts? The documentary
film maker enters the Reels market?
Yes, and with excellence

You can’t argue with the statistics. Some 80% of videos are now being watched on smartphones in the vertical format.

Much as Illustra Media would like to continue its long history of nature documentaries suitable for wide screen TVs as its sole product, there’s a vast market out there for short, catchy videos that fit a smartphone held in the hand. Other major documentary makers have already entered the market for vertical-format videos, sometimes called Shorts, Reels, or Verts.

Illustra’s team has had to adapt to changing technology over the years. Starting on 16mm Film, they jumped to VHS tapes when film went out of style. Then they jumped to DVDs. When people stopped buying DVD players, they began “The John 10:10 Project,” adapting snippets from their documentaries to online videos. But those were all in the standard 16:9 format that were hard to view on a smartphone.

Don’t worry; Illustra is not giving up on wide-format films in 4K resolution. They are adding to their product line with a new series of Shorts called “Glimpses of God”.

Oh, and you can still stream the documentaries in 4K on your big TV, or buy DVDs if you still have a player. Look through the Illustra Media product catalog at their distributor, Go2RPI.com.
